Melody Stein fell in love with Neapolitan pizza and she went to Italy to learn the art of pizza-making in 2010. She and her husband opened the pizzeria in San Francisco in 2011. She and her husband became the first deaf pizza makers to obtain the Vera Pizza Napoletana certification. They sold the brand to a non-profit organization in 2017. She missed making Neapolitan pizza and she, along with her husband and children founded pi00a in Los Angeles. pi00a focuses on Asian-inspired Neapolitan pizzas and their mission is to create job opportunities for the Deaf community and provide training.
